Thick, creamy and rich with the flavors of vanilla and nutmeg, this eggnog is our all-time favorite for the holidays (or any other time we feel like a good nog!)
Prep time:15 minutes
6 eggs (use fresh farm eggs or other high quality eggs)
2 ½ cups organic heavy whipping cream
2 cups organic whole milk
1 cup organic caster sugar (very fine white sugar)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
½ cup brandy
½ cup dark rum
- Electric Mixer (or Large Bowl with Egg Beater)
Step 0. Pre-chill Ingredients
Place the cream, milk and eggs in the refrigerator until well chilled.
Step 1. Prepare the Eggs
Crack each egg individually into a small bowl.
Double check for shell and remove any tough white strands of the white.
Place eggs in an electric mixer or mixing bowl and beat until very frothy.
Step 2. Beat the Nog
Continue beating as the remaining ingredients are added to the eggs:
Add the sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
Slowly add the whipping cream.
Then, slowly add the milk.
Step 3. Chill the Nog
Chill in the refrigerator for one to two hours.
Keep covered in the refrigerator for up to three days.
