This fabulously chewy ginger cookie is a favorite of Marcia's family and all of their friends!

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups cups sugar
1/2 cup molasses
4 cups flour (may need a bit more if dough is too soft)
2 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons cloves
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Additional sugar for rolling

Step 0. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step 1. Make the dough
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Mix in the butter, eggs sugar and molasses.
If the dough is still to sticky to roll into balls, add more flour.
Roll the dough into 3/4 inch balls.
Place 1/2 cup of sugar in a little dish.
Drop each ball into the sugar and shake to coat.
Place dough balls 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Step 3. Bake
Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
Do not over bake.
Let stand on sheet until set enough to move to a wire rack to cool.
Store cookies in an airtight container.
